Soroptimist International Kericho officially marked a major milestone with its Charter Ceremony held on 14 March 2026 at Upper Hill Sunshine Hotel, Kericho. The event brought together Soroptimist leaders, members, and provisional members in a meaningful celebration of service, leadership, and growth.

The ceremony was led by Mdm Julie Chweya, President Elect of Soroptimist International Kenya Union, who served as Master of Ceremonies. The program began with attendees gathering, followed by opening and welcome remarks from Jesca Oredo, President of Soroptimist International Union of Kenya.

A key highlight of the event was the formal confirmation and introduction of the provisional members, as well as the presentation of the club’s flagship project summary by Betty Cherono, the Provisional Club Program Director. The preparedness of the club board members for their responsibilities was also affirmed, reflecting the club’s readiness to begin its journey with purpose and structure.

The ceremony then moved into the official charter proceedings, including the presentation of charter members, confirmation of the constitutive assembly, the Soroptimist pledge, and the symbolic lighting of candles representing peace, faith, love, and hope. These moments underscored the values and vision of the Soroptimist movement.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was the presentation of the Charter Certificate by Mary Muia, SIAF President, officially recognizing Soroptimist International Kericho as a chartered club. This was followed by goodwill messages, the pinning of new members, and remarks on growth and sustainability from the new club leadership.

The event concluded with good wishes and gifts from fellow Soroptimist sisters, led by the Godmother Club, before guests departed after a health break. The ceremony marked not only the birth of a new club, but also the beginning of a new chapter of impact, sisterhood, and service in Kericho.
